Peter Clifford
Peter Clifford has been a trial lawyer since 1991, when he graduated 6th in his class at the University of Maine Law School. After working for a leading insurance defense litigation firm in Portland, he started a statewide plaintiff's practice. Pete grew up in
Lewiston , Maine , with six brothers and sisters. He lives in Cape Elizabeth with his wife Stephanie, two daughters, Meghan and Olivia, and a son, Nick. Pete handles business and real estate litigation, wrongful death, personal injury and malpractice, products liability, insurance disputes, will contests and estate litigation. He is also an experienced mediator, having mediated more than 100 cases for other attorneys. Since 2008, he has been listed by New England Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the top attorneys in Maine. He enjoys the Red Sox and Celtics, B.C. football, short story writing, skiing and running.

Rhoades v. Walsh- construction accident/crush injury, $1.0 million settlement with tortfeasor; plaintiff also took assignment of rights of insured against homeowner's insurance carrier, with future bad faith action pending; (2008); Maskarinetz v. Allstate Insurance pedestrian accident outside of crosswalk. Soft tissue injuries, with medical bills of $3,000. Verdict of $175,000 (2007); Elliott v. Castonguay, premises liability- leg injury after plaintiff stepped on hot molten metal. $326,000 judgment. A subsequent insurance bad faith action, Elliott v. Hanover Insurance Co., faulted the insurer for failure to defend 1998 ME 138.; Spottiswoode v. Levine, verdict for $135,000, reported at 1999 ME 79, 730 A.2d 166 (joint guarantors each liable for pro-rata share on guaranty);

Stephen was raised in Bangor, Maine, and currently lives in Kennebunk with his family. He has over 30 years of experience, representing banks, developers, businesses and individuals. He has many loyal, long-term clients, earned through a pragmatic, problem-solving approach to legal problems. His practice includes commercial and residential real estate transactions, criminal matters, banking, business law, family law and trusts and estates.
